Greetings Everyone,

As I write this the October long weekend is almost over and I hope all of you who were involved in the contesting this weekend had a very successful event.

The TH3 - Junior Beam Antenna refurbishment programme is continuing. Andrew VK5AKH, along with a number of volunteers, has planned a working bee at his QTH to clean, assemble and test the antenna in readiness for the JOTA weekend.

On the evening of the fifth Wednesday in August a number of members and XYLs (inclusive) enjoyed an excellent social night out and meal at The Blacksmith Tavern at One Tree Hill. This event was arranged by Will VK5AHV. The consensus was that this was a great social night out. Well done Will.

A number of members took part in the voluntary radio communications for the Targa Rally in the Adelaide Hills between the 14th and 16th September and others at the Clubman Rally at Tailem Bend on the 18th September. I hope all enjoyed the events (I know I did). Well done all in flying the flag for Amateur Radio.

The tech night presentation by John VK5NI on the 21st of September was on stubs and other home built testing equipment. The array of equipment on display was impressive as was the explanations and presentation. Thank you John. This was followed by the usual tea and coffee break with the biscuits and cakes supplied by Sue Mahony - a feature of many of our meetings. A very large thank you Sue.

The October tech night will be on 'Wireless Networks' and presented by Darryl VK5HZ. The November tech night will be on 'Material Detectors', presented by Will VK5AHV and Bob VK1ZRE.

The 30th of November is a fifth Wednesday, so at the October night we will see if the momentum can be continued with another night out. Also we should set in motion the preparation for our Christmas dinner event on the December tech night - 21st of December. So put your thinking caps on.

Well that's all I have for now, so till next time, 73.
