WIA National Field Day
Date and Time:Saturday 14th April 2012 at 00:00 CST (2 months)
Description:The objective of the WIA National Field Day is to positively place the hobby of amateur radio in front of the general public, to provide various clubs with an opportunity to promote their activities and increase the awareness of amateur radio training opportunities, either via the local clubs or the amateur radio fraternity as a whole.
SERG Convention
Date and Time:Saturday 9th June 2012 at 00:00 CST (4 months)
Description:A chance to try your fox hunting skills at Mount Gambier. Hosted by the South East Radio Group.
GippsTech Conference
Date and Time:Saturday 7th July 2012 at 09:00 CST (5 months)
Description:GippsTech is the premier 2 day conference organised & run by the Eastern Zone Amateur Radio Club Inc for VHF, UHF & SHF enthusiasts in Australia.
Various presentations are given by fellow amateurs covering different topics over the two days and after the first day's presentation a get together for dinner is organised for all interested to catch up, discuss the day's topics and have a good in general chin wag.
International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend

Monthly Technical Meeting

Description:General technical discussion, bring along your questions, equipment, homebrew projects, antennas etc.
Monthly 80m On-Air Net
Date and Time:Wednesday 22nd February 2012 at 20:00 CST (2 weeks, 1 day)
Description:A great chance to test out the HF gear. The net controller uses the VK5LZ club callsign. Normally 3.620Mhz ± QRM. Listen to the VK5RLZ 2m or 70cm repeaters for an exact frequency before the start. If you have any problems give a shout for help on one of these. Hope to hear you on the air.
Monthly Business Meeting

Description:General monthly meeting. Come along and hear what is happening within your radio club. Once the formalities of the meeting are over grab a cup of tea, a biscuit and a chat with like minded people.

Contests for the Next 12 Months

ARRL DX - CW
Date and Time:Saturday 18th February 2012 at 00:00 CST (1 week, 3 days)
Description:1.1. W/VE amateurs work as many amateur stations in as many DXCC countries of the world as possible on 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meter bands.
1.2. Foreign amateurs (also including KH6, KL7, CY9, and CYØ) work as many W/VE stations in as many of the 48 contiguous states and provinces as possible.

Date and Time:Saturday 3rd March 2012 at 00:00 CST (3 weeks, 3 days)
Description:1.1. W/VE amateurs work as many amateur stations in as many DXCC countries of the world as possible on 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meter bands.

WIA John Moyle Field Day
Date and Time:Saturday 17th March 2012 at 01:00 CST (1 month, 1 week)
Description:The aim is to encourage and provide familiarisation with portable operation, and provide training for emergency situations. The rules are therefore designed to encourage field operation.
WIA 80m VK/Trans-Tasman Contest
Date and Time:Saturday 5th May 2012 at 08:00 CST (2 months, 3 weeks)
Description:Each night runs for 6 hours,in 1 hour stages, - long enough to be interesting without being too arduous, and providing constant activity, with stations being reworked each hour.
The main emphasis is on contacts between VK and ZL stations, with the scoring structured to give all stations an equal chance, regardless of their location or time-zone.
WIA Winter VHF/UHF Field Day
Date and Time:Saturday 23rd June 2012 at 01:00 CST (4 months, 2 weeks)
Description:The VHF-UHF Field Days provide VHF-UHF operators with the opportunity to "head for the hills" and see how far they can work.
The Field Days have separate sections for single and multiple operator stations. The duration of the Field Day is 24 hours, but there are also 8 hour sections for operators who may not be able to camp overnight. Most club stations prefer to operate for the full 24 hours.
The Field Days also generate plenty of activity from home stations, so there is also a separate Home Station section.

IARU HF World Championship
Date and Time:Saturday 14th July 2012 at 12:00 CST (5 months, 1 week)
Description:To contact as many other amateurs, especially IARU member society HQ stations, around the world as possible using the 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meter bands.
RSGB IOTA Contest
Date and Time:Saturday 28th July 2012 at 12:00 CST (5 months, 3 weeks)Description:The aim of the contest is to promote contacts between stations in qualifying IOTA island groups and the rest of the world and to encourage expeditions to IOTA islands.

WIA Remembrance Day Contest
Date and Time:Saturday 11th August 2012 at 08:00 CST (6 months)
Description:This contest commemorates the Amateurs who died during World War II and is designed to encourage friendly participation and help improve the operating skills of participants. It is held on the weekend closest to the 15th August, the date on which hostilities ceased in the southwest Pacific area.
Oceania DX Phone Contest
Date and Time:Saturday 6th October 2012 at 08:00 CST (8 months)
Description:The aim of the contest is for stations within the Oceania Region is to contact as many other amateur radio stations as possible within the 24 hours of the contest on any of the 160/80/40/20/15/10m amateur bands. Each prefix worked on each band is counted as a multiplier.

Unofficial Nets
Every Friday night there is a SSB Net on either 2m or 70cm, which is a great way to test equipment which may not otherwise get much use. The Net is open to anyone and is held on 2m (144.150MHz USB) on every Friday except the last Friday of the month, where it is held on 70cm (432.150MHz USB).
